For example, if you have installed the utilities in the (default) directory <tt class="FILENAME">/usr/local/bin</tt>, this should be one of the first entries in the <tt class="ENVAR">PATH</tt>. This directory must be in the <tt class="ENVAR">PATH</tt> <i class= "EMPHASIS">after</i> the directory where the GNU utilities have been installed.
