Requirements
===============
Currently builds against version 0.21 of MythTV.
nice is required, it is used to reduce the priority of the scripts which are
run in the background.
The plugin relies on external scripts to retrieve weather data.
Currently they are all written in perl so a current version of that is
required (I don't know how current, I have 5.8). Below are all of the
external modules required, some are included with a default installation,
others will need to be installed. Some distros will have them in their
package management system, for those that aren't, see

Currently its all or nothing, if any are missing, ./configure will fail.
Installation
===============
MythWeather is now included as a part of the mythplugins packages, therefore,
installation should be done at that level. If any of the above perl
requirements are not met, the configure script will disable mythweather and
print an error message, resolve missing dependencies and rerun the script to
enable MythWeather.
Setup
===============
On all screens you press MENU to save changes and exit, or EXIT to cancel
changes.
Global Setup:
This screen is pretty self explanatory. The two time values determine how
long to display pages. The first is for normal operation. The second is
how long to stay on a page after a manual page change. The checkbox
determines whether data should be continually retrieved as long as the
frontend is running. This will improve startup time of MythWeather
drastically since it will no longer have to wait for the initial data
retrieval. Enabling this does slow down the startup of mythfrontend
slightly, but I have worked hard to minimize this.
Screen Setup:
This is probably the most important of the setup screens. The Screen Setup
screen is where you decide what screens you want displayed, what units they
will use, what location each screen displays, and in what order the screens
are displayed. The interface should be pretty intuitive; most options will
be found by pressing select on the screen you want to manipulate. Keep in
mind that not all screens will ask for units since the nature of some
sources doesn't allow them to change the units of the data. Also, a screen
can be a single location screen or a multi-location screen. To change the
location of a single location screen, you simply SELECT the screen in the
active screens list and choose Change Location. To change the locations of
a multi-location screen you have to set the location of each individual data
item. This may not be ideal, but it does allow for very easy screen and
source development, along with very customizable location setups. The
location search screen searches the external sources that supply the data
for the screen or data item you are configuring. How it searches depends on
which sources it is looking at. Most of the sources (all of the ones I've
written) use regular expressions to search. If you want to see all possible
locations you can search with ".*" or just a blank search term. Once you
have selected valid locations for all screens and data items that are
active, you can press MENU to save and exit.
Source Setup:
This screen is where you configure the sources necessary to supply data to
the screens chosen in the previous screen. Since it filters out the unused
sources, it is wise to make sure you have completed the screen setup prior
to entering this screen. This will ensure that you see the sources you want
to. This screen is pretty self-explanatory. The first value is the timeout
for retrieving data. When a external data retrieval program exceeds this
value, it will be terminated. The second value is how long to wait between
retrievals. Note that some scripts will cache data to avoid hammering sites
that update their data at fixed times. Also, some scripts will report the
update time as a value gathered from the server that signifies the time the
data was generated or observed. Others will simply use the time they were
last run. Therefore, if you see update times that seem further in the past
than you think they should be, don't worry, chances are the scripts are
running fine and you have the most current data available.
Use
===============
Once configured, using MythWeather requires little brain-power. When the
plugin is started it will begin cycling through the screens. If you wish to
pause on a screen press PAUSE (p). If you wish to manually move between
pages, use the left and right arrows. If you wish to manually initiate an
update, press 'u'. Thats about it, to exit, press EXIT (escape).
