What is Lirc? Lirc (Linux Infrared Remote Control) adds support for infrared remote controls to linux applications. To download lirc and for more info visit http://www.lirc.org. Gnomeradio & Lirc: Gnomeradio supports lirc by default. If you are compiling from source, it should detect it automagically. If not, use the --enable-lirc=yes/no switch of configure. The standard .rpm of gnomeradio is linked against liblirc_client.so. If you do not have lirc installed, get the gnomeradio-nolirc package. However, before you can use lirc in gnomeradio, you have to edit your .lircrc[1]. Gnomeradio understands the following commands: - tune up (= scan forward) - tune down (= scan backwards) - preset up (= next preset) - preset down (= previous preset) - volume up - volume down - mute - quit - preset 0..9 ( selects preset 0..9) Example: begin prog = gnomeradio button = VOL+ config = volume up repeat = 1 end This would map the button VOL+ (Attention: Buttonnames are RC-specific, read your lirc docs for more info) on the command "volume up". "repeat = 1" means, that if you keep the button of your RC pressed, the command is repeated as long as you press the button. It's of by default. Look at example.lircrc for a whole .lircrc example. [1]: Since version 1.5, lirc should work out of the box with a minimum configuration. This configuration will be overridden, if a lirc config file exists.
