<h1><a name="kanchor117"></a>Query Performance</h1>
<p>Query Performance is one of the most important
characteristics of a database system. In the same time it is probably the one
that can vary the most. In general query performance can be dependent on the
following list of factors and their combinations:</p>

<li value="1">hardware resources (free RAM, processor speed,
disk access)</li>
<li value="2">database model & complexity of objects</li>
<li value="3">query structure</li>
<li value="4">query configuration</li>
<li value="5">amount of objects in the database</li>
<li value="6">connection speed </li>
<li value="7">indexes</li>
<li value="8">query optimization</li>
<li value="9">etc</li>
</ul>

dependencies. A simple Item object with a string field is used in most of the
