<para>
&kdetv; provides several deinterlacing algorithms that provide different <hardware>CPU</hardware> usage and image quality. Two deinterlacing algorithms were ported from 
<ulink url="http://www.bytesex.org">&xawtv;</ulink>, three from 
<ulink url="http://www.dscaler.org">&dscaler;</ulink>. The &dscaler; algorithms are
referred in the following as the <quote>good</quote> (in terms of image quality) deinterlacers.</para>

What do I need to do if I want deinterlacing?

<listitem><para>Use a <link linkend="device_names">&video4linux;</link> or <link linkend="device_names">&video4linux2;</link>
 plugin-driven device.</para></listitem>
<listitem><para>Configure the &video4linux; device to use &xvideo; display method if you want
to use the <quote>good</quote> deinterlacers.</para></listitem>
<listitem><para>Configure the &video4linux; or &video4linux2; plugin to use <guimenuitem>Full Framerate</guimenuitem> if 
you want use one of the <quote>good</quote> deinterlacers and your <hardware>CPU</hardware> is fast enough.</para></listitem>
<listitem><para>Choose one of the deinterlacers from the &kdetv; configuration dialog.</para></listitem>
<listitem><para>Additionally, you may want to enable the overscan plugin to get rid 
of image noise at the borders.</para></listitem>
