It will guide you in the task of configuring your mararc and zone files. <p> <b>maraconf</b> has two arguments: <b>-start</b> that initializes the program, and <b>-help</b> to shows usage information. <p> <H1>USAGE</H1> Maraconf, like the rest of MaraDNS, is designed to be easy to use. One can simply start maraconf with the <b>-start</b> option and choose options in a menu. <p> There are two main configuration options: Configuring a <b>recursive</b> server and an <b>authoritative</b> server. Pressing number one will start the recursive mode. Pressing number two will start the authoritative mode. <p> <b>Recursive DNS server</b> <p> Recursive DNS servers can convert DNS nodes on the public internet in to their corresponding number. This kind of server can not change the names of any DNS nodes out there. Instead, they simply ask other DNS servers the IP for a given DNS node. <p> When configuring a recursive DNS server with maraconf, you will be presented with two configuration modes: <p> 1) The easy way (using a wizard)<br> 2) The hard way (for experienced users) <p> The easy way: <p> Here the program will do most of the work. Only two two questions need to be answered: The IP address that the server will run on and the ip allowed to perform recursive queries. If you do not answer a given question, the program will use a reasonable default value. <p> The hard way: <p> The program will ask ten question about your MaraDNS setup. This mode is designed for experienced administrators. Again, if you do not answer a given question, the program will use a reasonable default value. <p> <b>Authoritative DNS server</b> <p> An authoritative DNS server actually controls the records for a subset of DNS nodes in the internet (such as the IPs corresponding to DNS names). Recursive DNS servers (see above) contact authoritative DNS servers in order to learn the IP for a given DNS node. <p> In this mode there is only one configuration mode; you will start directly answering questions about your zone.
