<p>You can make your own data types by subclassing Table (or other PyTables types,
such as <a class="reference internal" href="../usersguide/libref/hierarchy_classes.html#tables.Leaf" title="tables.Leaf"><tt class="xref py py-class docutils literal"><span class="pre">tables.Leaf</span></tt></a>).
This can be useful for storing a specialized type of data or presenting a
customized API.</p>
