What is kdenonbeta?
-------------------

This package contains software modules that are considered by their
authors preceding beta stage, hence "nonbeta". The programs and libraries
you will find here are sometimes moved to packages (like kdegraphics) that
are part of the official releases. Beware that some of the programs are
not maintained or may be suffering bit rot.

This place is also touted as a place for free collaborative development of
KDE related software.

Building kdenonbeta
-------------------

You will have noticed that kdenonbeta is rather large, about 100MB of
source code.

NOTICE: "make -f Makefile.cvs" might fail if all modules are checked out.

To save yourself a ton of time and trouble when you next checkout simply use:
   cvs co -l kdenonbeta
   cd kdenonbeta
cvs co admin (or ln -s ../kde-common/admin .admin)
   cvs up <subdir>

Create a file called inst-apps in toplevel directory to compile modules
you want. The file should contain each module name on a separate line.
Although inter-module dependencies are sparse, you will find it more
convenient to build them together.

The package uses the standard autoconf/automake based KDE build system.

Read the INDEX file to find out about the description and status of each
module.

Bah humbug. This is the little testing ground for people with CVS access.
It's rather neat cause all the apps that are too unproven (read: unstable)
for any of the "main" modules go in here where other people can mess with
them jeer at them or perhaps fix them up (Hanns, there's a file in klpq
without any i18n()'s ahh ;) ).

Since this is so unofficial, this comes with even less of a warranty than
the other packages do. Plus each of the things here have varying
dependencies. For example, kcmbind needs bind.
Use at your own risk. Please if you absolutely need help, ask the
author of the appropiate package, as there's nobody who is officially
responsible for what goes on in here.
