This is a pretty archiver for KDE. It can read, extract and modify
all .tar (.tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .tgz), .gz, .bz2 and .zip file.
You need the bzip2 and the unzip package to have all those compressors
avaible under KArchiveur.
Well, why a new archiver for KDE ? Because this one is more powerfull
and intuitive: you can sort any column by clicking on its title, you have
a working multiselection, you can add N files from M folders just using
a tree view ! You have a search tool (display archives in a directory,
recursively), an installation wizard (run configure, make, and make install
throught karchiver), a patch wizard ...
==> So, just navigate throught your favorites ftp sites with konqueror, do a drag
and drop with karchiveur with any GNU software, launch the wizard, and compile
and install this software without typing any commands !
INSTALLATION:
-------------
Just type the following:
* ./configure --prefix=/usr (assuming KDE is installed in /usr)
* make
* make install (beeing root)
The executable is karchiveur. A new entry is added in the "K" menu, under
the utilities submenu.
An rpm ix86 binary is provided in a sepatate package.

KArchiver est un archiveur/décompresseur assez sympa pour l'environnement
de bureau KDE. Le programme peut relire, décompresser et effectuer diverses
opérations sur les fichiers comme ajouter des fichiers, les voir avec votre
éditeur de texte favori.
KArchiver peut relire les fichiers .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, les fichiers
.zip ainsi que les .gz et .bz2 (les aficionados des patches noyau seront contents).
KArchiver inclus désormais des assistants qui vous permettent de compiler et
d'installer l'archive que vous utilisez, de convertir son format, et plein d'autres
choses !
INSTALLATION
------------
Rien de plus simple:
* ./configure --prefix=/usr (en supposant KDE installé dans /usr)
* make
* make install (en tant que root)
L'exécutable créé est karchiveur. Un raccourci prend place dans le menu "K",
dans la section Utilitaires.
Un exécutable ix86 au format RPM est fourni séparément.
