                                 This is

                             OOKKIIPPAAGGEE 44 LLIINNUUXX

A Linux / UNIX driver for the okipage 4w oki 400w and
    	    	    	okipage 4w plus GDI printers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

DESCRIPTION:

This package contains all You will need to make successful use of those led
line printers under Linux and maybe with some adaptations any other kind of
UNIX alike system, which provides reasonable basic real time process
    support.

Yes! I did this, despite of many prominient Linux guys claiming that it
would be impossible to do so. (Hint: Alan Cox and Linus Torvalds on
    linux-kernel@vger.rutgers.edu).

For the hacker's convenience I'm providing all the tools used during it's
    development too:

src/ The source of the driver program itself. This is what the normal
    	    	user will need.

crack/	The program used to reverse engine the protocol used to
provide the printer with image data.

REQUIREMENTS:

This package needs (obviously) the GhostScript rendering engine to work.
Second there where bogous workarounds for various inferior printers in late
2.0 and early 2.2.x kernel. This lead to the fact that the printer used
only to print some rester lines and hung. The 2.2.9 kernel appears to work
    fine for me.
