<p><a name="index-custos-1322"></a><a name="index-custodias-1323"></a>
Un <em>custos</em> (en plural: <em>custodias</em>, que en latín significa ‘guarda’) es un
símbolo que aparece al final de una pauta. Anticipa la altura
de la primera o primeras notas de la línea siguiente, ayudando al intérprete con
los saltos de línea durante la ejecución.
<p>Las custodias se utilizaron mucho en la notación musical hasta el siglo XVII.
En nuestros días, sobreviven sólo en algunas formas particulares
de notación musical como las ediciones contemporáneas de Canto Gregoriano
como la <em>editio vaticana</em>. Hay distintos glifos para el custos
que se utilizan en las diferentes variaciones de estilo notacional.
<p>Para tipografiar las custodias, simplemente coloque un grabador <a name="index-Custos_005fengraver-1324"></a><a href="../lilypond-internals/Custos_005fengraver.es.html#Custos_005fengraver">Custos_engraver</a> dentro del contexto
<a name="index-Staff-1325"></a><a href="../lilypond-internals/Staff.es.html#Staff">Staff</a> (el contexto del pentagrama) al declarar el bloque de <code>\layout</code> (el bloque de disposición de la página),
como se muestra en el ejemplo siguiente:
