<p><a name="index-divisio-1327"></a><a name="index-divisiones-1328"></a><a name="index-finalis-1329"></a>
Una <em>divisio</em> (en plural: <em>divisiones</em>, que en latín significa
‘división’) es un símbolo del contexto del pentagrama que se usa para estructurar
la música Gregoriana en frases y secciones. El significado musical de
<em>divisio minima</em>, <em>divisio maior</em> y <em>divisio maxima</em>
se podrían caracterizar como una pausa corta, media y larga (respectivamente), algo así como
las marcas de respiración de <a href="Breath-marks.es.html#Breath-marks">Marcas de respiración</a>. El signo de <em>finalis</em> no sólo
marca el final de un canto, sino que se usa también con frecuencia dentro de un único
canto antifonal o responsorial para marcar el final de cada una de las secciones.
<p>Para usar divisiones, incluya el archivo <samp><span class="file">gregorian-init.ly</span></samp>. Contiene
definiciones que podrá aplicar con tan sólo escribir
<code>\divisioMinima</code>, <code>\divisioMaior</code>, <code>\divisioMaxima</code>
y <code>\finalis</code> en los lugares adecuados de la entrada. Algunas ediciones usan
<em>virgula</em> o <em>caesura</em> en vez de divisio minima.
Por ello, <samp><span class="file">gregorian-init.ly</span></samp> define también las instrucciones <code>\virgula</code> y
<code>\caesura</code>
