<p><a name="index-divisio-925"></a><a name="index-divisiones-926"></a><a name="index-finalis-927"></a>
Une division — <em>divisio</em>, pluriel <em>divisiones</em> en latin —
est un symbole ajouté à la portée et utilisé en chant grégorien pour
séparer les phrases ou parties. <em>Divisio minima</em>, <em>divisio
maior</em> et <em>divisio maxima</em> peuvent respectivement s'interpréter
comme une pauses courte, moyenne ou longue, à l'image des marques de
respiration — cf. <a href="Breath-marks.fr.html#Breath-marks">Signes de respiration</a>. Le signe <em>finalis</em> n'est
pas uniquement une marque de fin de chant ; il sert aussi à indiquer la
fin de chaque partie dans une structure verset/répons.
<p>Les divisions sont disponibles après inclusion du fichier
<samp><span class="file">gregorian-init.ly</span></samp>. Ce fichier définit les commandes
<code>\divisioMinima</code>, <code>\divisioMaior</code>, <code>\divisioMaxima</code> et
<code>\finalis</code>. Certaines éditions utilisent <em>virgula</em> ou
<em>caesura</em> en lieu et place de <em>divisio minima</em> ; c'est
pourquoi <samp><span class="file">gregorian-init.ly</span></samp> définit aussi <code>\virgula</code> et
<code>\caesura</code>.
