<var>Staves</var> (singular: <var>staff</var>) are created with
the <code>\new</code> or <code>\context</code> commands. For details, see

<p><code>DrumStaff</code> creates a five-line staff set up for a
typical drum set. It uses different names for each instrument.
The instrument names are set using the <code>\drummode</code> command.

<p>There are two staff contexts specific for the notation of ancient
music: <code>MensuralStaff</code> and <code>VaticanaStaff</code>. They are
described in <a href="Pre_002ddefined-contexts.fr.html#Pre_002ddefined-contexts">Pre-defined contexts</a>.
<p>Staves can be started or stopped at any point in the score. The
commands <code>\startStaff</code> and <code>\stopStaff</code> are used for
