<p>En una partitura orquestal, los nombres de los instrumentos se imprimen en el lado izquierdo
de los pentagramas.
<p>Esto se puede conseguir estableciendo <a name="index-Staff-946"></a><a href="../lilypond-internals/Staff.es.html#Staff">Staff</a>.<code>instrumentName</code>
y <a name="index-Staff-947"></a><a href="../lilypond-internals/Staff.es.html#Staff">Staff</a>.<code>shortInstrumentName</code>, o bien
<a name="index-PianoStaff-948"></a><a href="../lilypond-internals/PianoStaff.es.html#PianoStaff">PianoStaff</a>.<code>instrumentName</code> y
<a name="index-PianoStaff-949"></a><a href="../lilypond-internals/PianoStaff.es.html#PianoStaff">PianoStaff</a>.<code>shortInstrumentName</code>. Esto
imprimirá el texto antes del
principio del pentagrama. Para el primer pentagrama se usa <code>instrumentName</code>,
y para los siguientes se usa <code>shortInstrumentName</code>.
