Gnews Alert is a GTK+/GNOME based panel applet. 
It will go out to news sources periodically and parse out breaking news alerts, 
then display a popup that shows you the news semi-as-it-happenes!

It will also filter alerts using keywords/topics and update your favorite.stock
prices.
