  The following are a few instructions on how to use this port of Xaw3d-1.3
 under Linux, and a helpful tip on customizing this 3-D replacement of Xaw.

  After you unpack the binary distribution file, i.e., Xaw3d-1.3La-bin.tar.gz,
 in a termporary sub-directory (e.g., /tmp), or make your own libraries from
 the sources provided, you must do something like the following in order for
 your X-window applications to use libXaw3d rather than libXaw:

  1. rename libXaw.so.6.1 to (for example) hidden_libXaw.so.6.1:
     mv libXaw.so.6.1 hidden_libXaw.so.6.1

  2. move the libXaw* files from the temporary sub-directory to your
     XFree86 3.2 lib directory (most likely /usr/X11R6/lib)

  3. run ldconfig

 The libXaw3d.so.6.1 and libXaw.so.6.1 are identical; the only difference is
 the name in the library ELF header. This is a work-around for ld.so's reading
 the real library name from the file and not "buying" the symbolic link
 libXaw.so.6.1 -> libXaw3d.so.6.1 trick.

 To customize the 3-D look of Xaw3d, use the following as a starting point
 by inserting it in your .Xdefaults file, and tailor colors, settings and
 sizes to taste:

 To see what Xaw3d can do for your Xaw applications, look through
 the examples in the app-defaults directory included in this binary
 distribution. It contains a collection of Xaw3d resource files for
 common Xaw applications, which I've put together over the past few
 years. Please read the README file included therein.


 As a last note, I've left the original sources before patching with the
 enhancements and bug-fixes I've collected so far (all the *.orig files),
 so that whoever likes to, can read through the changes.
