This is the README file for GNOME-DB. GNOME-DB is released under the terms of the GPL and LGPL licenses. The specific parts of the architecture are licensed under one of them: executables, such as the GNOME-DB front end or builder and the components are licensed under the GPL license, which means that any work derived from it must also adhere to the terms of the GPL license. Libraries (libgnomedb, libgnomedbcomponents) are, on the other hand, licensed under the LGPL license, which allows for commercial applications to be developed based on GNOME-DB. To install GNOME-DB, you must first install libgda, which is the data access framework used. If you've donwloaded the source code from CVS, there should be a libgda/ directory. If so, cd to this directory, and run: ./autogen.sh make && make install Then, you can safely do the same for the gnome-db directory. If you didn't get the sources from CVS, be sure to download libgda and install it first as noted above. You can download it at the GNOME-DB web site at http://www.gnome.org/projects/gnome-db/.
