A few notes about multisession: ------------------------------- The multisession support in mkisofs is quite buggy at the moment; I've had some success by turning off joliet and RR support and turning on "No deep directory reallocation". Until it gets fixed, I recommend you not to use it! *Update*: Most multisessions bugs in mkisofs appears to be fixed now (cdrtools 1.8.1 and newer). Note: I've been having some problems using RR and multisession, and the todo-list for cdrtools implies there is work to be done in this area yet. Anyway, here is an example on how to use it: First session: Add files to be burned in data files. In the Burn tab, mark: *Data Files, no image (alternativly, make an image first and use it) *Get size (I'm not sure this is necessary, but it doesn't hurt AFAIK) *Multisession Leave path to old session empty Start burning For the next sessions: Add files to be burned in data files. In the Burn tab, mark: *ISO-9660 Image *Get size *Multisession Path to old session: /dev/scd0 (you must fill in this before creating the image) Create image from files (1) Start burning (1) starting from version 0.1.35 it should be possible to omit this step and use "Data files, no image" as source. (gcombust now also have an "Use Data" and "CDplus" option for use with multisession, but if you don't understand what they do, chances are you shouldn't be using them anyway). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 19 Feb 2000 08:46:03 -0500 (GMT+5) From: "Inguva V.R.Sivakumar" <siva@jncasr.ac.in> To: jmunsin@iki.fi cc: jmunsin@abo.fi Subject: GCombust Hello I use gcombust for burning my CD's from a CDWriter attached to a linux box. In your README file you mentioned that multisession is buggy and you need to turn off RR and Joliet fot it to work. But if we turn off Joliet then reading a CD on a win95 system is difficult. So I experimented on the various combinations and found a successful combination which works stably. Here it is, In gcombust you need to toggle the following options General filesystem options Rock Ridge on Anony. RR off Allow 32 char off Joliet on Generate TRANS on More apecialised options Omit trailing period off No deep directory off Allow files to begin on Omit version no off Bootable CD on/off Hide rr_moved off With this combination I found that the CD's have proper multisession support from gcombust and the CD's written this way can be viewed properly on any system. I am an admirer of gcombust and I thank you for providing this software for free. Regards Sivakumar
