CDDB Proxy 1.7 (16 June 2000) ---------------------------- The proxy redirects CDDBP queries directly to web requests, it is optional whether they be direct requests to the CDDB web servers or via a typical web proxy (no authentication). Since version 1.0 it is possible for the proxy to locally store all CDDB entries. This allows faster accesses for CD requests, and allows CDDB requests to be fulfilled when no network connection is available. Since version 1.2 the proxy can be run in a deferred mode (cddbp2.pl offline), which means that all requests are written to a spool directory. When not running in this mode the directory is read and those entries are requested from the remote cddb server and placed into the local cache. Since version 1.5 the proxy can perform a fuzzy lookup and will return inexact matches for all discs with the same number of tracks and less than 1000 ms total difference on track offsets (configurable). CONFIGURATION: to get winamp to work with the proxy edit the winamp.ini, [CDDA/Line Input Driver] rt=<cddbp port of proxy> rver=<proxy host name> NOTES: CDDB = CD DataBase (http://www.cddb.com) CDDBP = TCP protocol used by early versions of the CDDB HTTP = TCP protocol used by the web cddbcmd is part of the xmcd package.
