gaddr-1.1.4-2mdk.x86_64.rpm

gaddr 1.1.4
-----------

Ingredients:

* A machine running some sort of Unix like operating system. I used
Redhat Linux 5.1 to do most of the development; I have since upgraded to
Redhat 6.0.

* GTK+ >= 1.1.x. Oh, happy days - GTK 1.2 finally arrived. So, this will
work with anything from 1.1.x to 1.2.x (and beyond, I hope).

* Gnome >= 1.0.x. With gaddr 1.1, this is a requirment. By the time 1.2
comes around, it should compile either way.

* X windows. If you've managed to scrounge up the first two items on this
list, than you more than likely have this. I am using XFree86 3.3.3.1.

Once that is all gathered together, mix it up and stir well. Then type:

./configure

for the plain GTK version or:

./configure --enable-gnome

for the GNOME aware version.

And if that goes well,

make

and things should start going. I finally managed to get this nice
automake system working, so things are now easier (I hope).

From that you will get a nice executable named "gaddr" that can be copied
to wherever you want to install it. Optionally, you can type

make install

which should install the program and its extras. The first time you
run it, it will create a file in your home directory called .gaddrbook.
This file holds all of the information you put into gaddr. And for those
of you that have used the previous incarnation of this program, laddr, you
can just copy your old .laddrbook to .gaddrbook and have all of your old
stuff. They are 100% compatable.

If something doesn't work right, feel free to mail me and ask for help.
Whether or not I can actually give it is another matter, but I will do my
best.
