La visualizzazione si può spostare, ingrandire e rimpicciolire, ed è anche possibile identificare e inseguire gli oggetti nel loro movimento attraverso il cielo. &kstars; è estremamente configurabile: puoi controllare quali oggetti sono mostrati e con quali colori. Immagini di ogni parte del cielo possono essere scaricate da database online.
