- Added Carl's changes and implemented his requests for Sun distribution.
- Minor cleanups to the core code.
- Increased d_msg internal buffer size to 4096 to accomodate longer debug
  messages.
- Made minor changes so that apctest now works with the new drivers code.
- Completed the network driver. All the time variables are omitted from
  transfer as they should be determined by do_action.
