Obtuse Utilities This is the Obtuse Utilities package. This is a collection of utility programs that we have found useful when dealing with programs in chrooted holes and other places. For documentation, please see http://www.obtuse.com/juniper/ and http://www.obtuse.com/juniper-docs/ as these programs are distributed with the Juniper firewall toolkit. Contents: bounce: A simple program to enable you to make a non-transparent telnet proxy by running your favorite telnet daemon (preferably one that will encrypt) and your favoite login program (preferably one that will do some sort of one-time password) chrooted into a hole by themselves for maximum security. holelogd: A simple daemon that makes an alternate /dev/log socket and passes data from it to the real one. This makes it so that the normal BSD style syslog facility can work in a chrooted hole. chrootip: Similar to the "choot" program found on many systems, but allows you to chroot to a directory that includes a substitution of the ip address the connection was made to. Useful for making different daemons happen in different places for a host with multiple ip addresses (i.e. ftp.foo.bar.org and ftp.eep.org on the same machine) For installation notes please see the file INSTALL
