17 Mar 1997 This is a quick and dirty fix - we needed the '-p' option to also work when in TrueColor mode. The built-in image reading code was useless at 16/24bpp, and /everybody/ has XV anyway, so we just hacked up the code. It's much smaller; using the -p (picture background) option now automatically enables clipping, and just uses "xv -root -quit" to view whatever image you specify. Note that "xv" has to be in the search path somewhere. All inbuilt code relating to colormapping and internal image manipulation has been completely cut out, so if you were hoping to use this on a depth 8 display, you'd better think twice, because it's probably broken now! Hey, it works for me! Anyway, I call it "2.1tp", not to be confused with the official 2.1 release. The "tp" stands either for "truecolor+picture" or for "toilet paper", depending on the sorts of things you tend to do in your spare time. - Aron Hsiao unit@lgcy.com (don't ask me any questions, I don't have any answers)
