HylaFAX is typically obtained by public FTP on the Internet.
It is also available on a number of public domain and freeware-style
CD-ROMs. The master distribution site for HylaFAX is the
host <B>ftp.sgi.com</B>. Since 1998 there is also a server in Germany
on the host <B>ftp.sisis.de</B>.
The following information is included here:

<UL>
<LI><A HREF="#ByFTP">Obtaining the Software by FTP on the Internet</A>
<LI><A HREF="#ByMail">Obtaining the Software by Electronic Mail</A>
<LI><A HREF="#ByInst">Obtaining the Software Within Silicon Graphics</A>
</UL>

All the HylaFAX documentation is online on the World Wide Web.
A quick synopsis of how to build and install the software from
the source distribution is provided in the section on
``<A HREF="install-source.html">Installation from a source distribution</A>''.
Binary distributions come with their own installation instructions
that are tailored to their format and the needs of the target system.
Otherwise the HylaFAX home page at
<A HREF=http://www.hylafax.org/>http://www.hylafax.org/</A>
is the place to go for <EM>all</EM> the HylaFAX documentation.

<P>
There are two mailing lists for HylaFAX users; information
on how to subscribe is found in the chapter
``<A HREF="mailing-lists.html">HylaFAX Mailing Lists and Other Final Words</A>''.

<H2><A NAME="ByMail">Obtaining the Software by Electronic Mail</A></H2>

If you cannot use FTP at all, there is a service called
``<I>ftpmail</I>''
available through a variety of systems including
<B>decwrl.dec.com</B>: you can send electronic mail to
one of these machines and the host will retrieve the requested
files using FTP and then send you the files via electronic mail.
To find out more about the ftpmail service, send a message to
<A HREF="mailto:ftpmail@decwrl.dec.com">ftpmail@decwrl.dec.com</A> whose body

<H2><A NAME="ByInst">Obtaining the Software Within Silicon Graphics</A></H2>

Internal to Silicon Graphics there are inst'able images on the host
<B>dist.engr</B> in the directory <B>/sgi/hacks</B>.
Thus you can do something like:
<PRE>
    % inst -f dist.engr.sgi.com:/sgi/hacks/hylafax
</PRE>
to install the latest version of the software on your machine.
