-= Overview =-
nmap2html is essentially a stripped down version of nlog [1] that has been
modified for use with the SnortSnarf application [2]. It is a utility that
converts nmap logs (in a flat file format) to an html file structure. There
is a HTML page for each IP address and an index page; these are
cross-linked. You may resolve the IP address in real time.
-= Setup =-
Included with the nmap2html utility is the essential log2db.pl script that
converts nmap output (generated with the -oM option) to a flat file format.
The newly created flat file, and the original nmap output file will then be
fed into nmap2html to produce the desired html pages. The original file
must be used again, because certain components of it are not extracted with
the log2db.pl utility.
1) Place the nmaplog-dns.pl file in your webserver's cgi-bin directory.
From the root of your webserver, it _must_ be placed in /cgi-bin If you
choose not to place it in this directory, you may edit the nmap2html.pl
file, and change the $cgidir variable value to reflect the location of the
cgi-bin directory on your webserver.
2) Execute the following.
# log2db.pl <nmap output file> <target file>
# nmap2html <nmap output file> <target file>
Where <nmap output file> is the file produced by nmap (with the -oM option
remember), and <target file> is a flat file name that you specify. <target
file> is the same for both commands.
This will pour html files into your current directory, so you may want to
execute nmap2html in a directory that is accesable to your web server.
-= Using with SnortSnarf =-
nmap2html can be used stand-alone or can integrated with the SnortSnarf
program. To have snortsnarf.pl generate links to nmap2html output, give it
the -nmapurl and -nmapdir options. See that program's documentation for
more details.
