PortScanner-1.2-9mdk.ppc.rpm

README for PortScanner 1.2
--------------------------
This port scanning program was created because there were no really good
portscanner I written in C that had the level of verbosity I expected from
a good scanner. Furthermore, I know of no other C scanner so simple and
small, with this many features. The program is intended to test security
by provinding a list of the listening TCP ports, including those with
probable security hazards attached to them.

If you want to contribute more code to the program, do so, but YOU MUST
inform the author and give him a copy of the new code, and make the
sources public mentionning the original auhtor(s).

Peoples who have contributed to this project:
Tennessee Carmel-Veilleux (veilleux@ameth.org) -> Author

Alexandre Carmel-Veilleux (saruman@linenoise.org) -> Sysadmin of Digimelt,
the machine on which this program was written.

Ken Williams (PacketStorm@Genocide2600.com) -> Fixed some compilation
problems

Philippe Rivard (rivardp@cyberus.ca) -> Made a Makefile, tested the
program on multiple platforms, provided ideas for the development and
fixed compilation problems. Has started developing a basic GTK+ frontend.

Warren Layton (warren@egroup.ca) -> Ported PortScanner to the Corel
Computer NetWinder (ARM Linux) and is researching the implementation of
threads for better performance.
