Additional notes for installing GOsa on Mandriva Linux

I've tried to automate as much of the setup as possible, short of
altering an existing openldap setup in an undesirable fashion.

The package is split into two parts, gosa and gosa-schema. If your
openldap server and the apache server are on the same machine, install 
them both. Otherwise put the gosa-schema package on the openldap server.

Conflicts in default slapd.conf:

I had to comment out the following lines in /etc/openldap/slapd.conf
due to conflicts with the GOsa schemas. (you'll need to do this manually)

#include /usr/share/openldap/schema/kolab.schema
#include /usr/share/openldap/schema/evolutionperson.schema

I uncommented the rootpw entry in /etc/openldap/slapd.conf

Loading of GOsa schemas:

The %%post script of the rpm package adds the following entry to
/etc/openldap/schema/local.schema:

include /usr/share/openldap/schema/gosa/gosa-core.schema

Loading openldap data for GOsa (assuming the ldap service is running):

I've provided 2 files with the core data to get GOsa working on an empty
openldap database:

/usr/share/openldap/schema/gosa/example.ldif
/usr/share/openldap/schema/gosa/gosa.ldif

These setup an example dn: dc=example,dc=com (like the default slapd.conf)

You can load these by: (assuming a rootdn=Manager, rootpw=secret in slapd.conf)

ldapadd -f /usr/share/openldap/schema/gosa/example.ldif -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=example,dc=com" -w secret
ldapadd -f /usr/share/openldap/schema/gosa/gosa.ldif -x -D "cn=Manager,dc=example,dc=com" -w secret

(You'll note the "people" ou is commented out in example.ldif. I found that it
conflicts with the "People" ou in gosa.conf)

"slapcat" should list this loaded data

You should now be able to login as user "admin", password "tester" at
http://localhost/gosa/

If your ldap server is on another host, you can edit lines 177, 180 in 
/etc/gosa/gosa.conf and replace localhost with the correct hostname. Or
do something like:

sed -i 's|localhost|my_host|g' /etc/gosa/gosa.conf

If you want to go through the gosa setup like the tarball install does, 
either remove or rename /etc/gosa/gosa.conf.
 
I also found I needed to change the default "memory_limit = 8M" in 
php4.ini to 32M.
